Sanya Expat

No kidding friends and not quite about...Sanya restaurants..., I've decided that our dear friend and country farmer entrepreneur John Close, who is by the way on the list of longest time residents of Sanya (6 years) deserves a prize, at least to be the richest farmer in Sanya...John owns a small farm...

...off the road about 8km outside of Da Dong Hai on the way to Ya Long Bay...about 1km off the main road and surrounded by mountains and local farms, its a refreshing place to visit, I usually don't want to leave when I do...John's focus has been Gloriosa Flowers which he has been selling to resorts throughout China...indeed I recently learned he now has something like 10,000 Gloriosa bulbs in the ground and wants to double that amount...

...Now listen up dear readers, MUCH more importantly to myself being of Italian heritage and lover of genuine fresh Italian flavors, John has planted a nice patch of fresh very aromatic basil of which he was kind enough to offer me a bag to check out...which we recently used to make a fresh Italian pesto sauce, using an old-fashioned wooden mortar and pestle to crush the fresh basil leaves, pine nuts, fresh garlic...add the extra virgin olive oil and imported Romano cheese bought from Corner Deli and "Mamma Mia" fresh pesto to die for right here in my Sanya kitchen...we tossed it with a nice Farfalle pasta
