Discovering the lush tropical countryside of Hainan

It was an easy decision. My mind was still foggy sans coffee early Sunday morning, my wife and I able to take a break for two days together until Monday 9pm when I had to report back to the piano at the MO Blues Lounge.

I sleepily inquired, "So are we going to head up to the mountains 'til tomorrow?" The look on her face said it all and within the hour we were out the door, picked up our favorite rental car, a Zotye mini SUV and headed up the mountain for a quick, refreshing escape.

It was at the BaoTing turn off 60 km up the hill that we decided on our destination, skipping the Qi Xian Ling (Seven Fairy Mountain) hot springs resorts and heading for the third time to majestic, rugged Wu Zhi Shan (Five Finger Mountain).
